Every now and then, as creatives, we hit a season where inspiration feels just out of reach. Recently, I found myself craving something more, something softer, bolder, more emotive. So instead of waiting for inspiration to return, I decided to create it.
I invited a muse into the studio with no expectations other than to play, explore, and create freely. What followed was one of the most dreamy and creatively fulfilling maternity sessions I’ve photographed to date.
A Risqué Take on Maternity Photography
This session leaned into a more intimate, boudoir-inspired approach to maternity photography—elegant, artistic, and unapologetically feminine. Karina arrived with the most beautiful lingerie pieces that set the tone perfectly. We layered those with a few sheer textures from my studio collection and incorporated my signature luxury wings to add an ethereal, editorial feel.
The result? Images that feel powerful yet soft. Sensual yet timeless. This session reminded me just how beautiful maternity photography can be when we allow space for creativity and self-expression.
Embracing Simplicity With a Milk Bath Maternity Session
We transitioned into a milk bath portion of the session to close out the shoot. While I often incorporate florals into milk baths, this time I intentionally stripped everything back. No flowers. No distractions. Just water, almond milk, soft light, and connection.
Karina wore the sweetest mint green-floral lingerie set, which complemented the simplicity perfectly. The outcome was stunning, proof that sometimes less truly is more. The minimal approach allowed the focus to remain exactly where it should be: on motherhood, femininity, and the quiet beauty of this fleeting season.
Why This Session Meant So Much
This maternity session did more than produce beautiful images, it reignited my creative spark. These are the kinds of sessions I want to photograph more of this year: dreamy, intimate, elevated maternity portraits that feel deeply personal and artistically driven.
